Sausage Buns/Rolls /Chicken Sausage Bread.

I have been posting many baked goodies these days .Yes because I love baking my own bread or cake .The joy of baking your bread is really great and specially when you succeed in baking a real soft bread.I always loved cooking and baking but Few years back I failed miserably when i baked breads but i never gave up i kept trying and finally succeeded .Now my family enjoy fresh homemade breads every week .They prefer stuffed breads more than plain buns/bread .So i love baking for them .I brought some Spicy Chicken Sausage the other day and thought of making breads/rolls with it.
I was craving for sausage  bread/buns from Bread Talk  .I made sure I always tasted their sausage bread whenever i visited Bread Talk .Now that its no longer there and that I enjoy baking bread I thought of doing it by myself .There was no extra effort needed just kneaded the dough and shaped it and  rolled it placing the sausage inside .I was very happy with the result The spicy chicken sausage rolled in a soft bread tasted just too good that it got over within 15 min.I regretted that I made very little.

Ingredients
2 .5 cup flour*
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup milk
1 tbsp milkpowder
1 tbsp yeast
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp butter i used salted
2 tbsp oil
15 chicken sausage
1/2 tsp salt ( i didnt add since i use salted butter)

Method
Knead the dough by mixing all the ingredients together except the butter and oil.
Once the dough comes together mix the butter and oil and knead to soft dough.
Cover the dough with cling foil and allow it to double in size.
Once it has risen punch down the dough and knead for 3-4 mins.
Divide into balls and flatten into circle

Roll the circle and place the sausage and roll the buns .
Let it proof for 30 min
Apply milk/egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds.
Preheat the oven at 180 degree for 10 min
Bake for 20-25 min .
Remove from the oven and brush butter on the rolls.

I love to enjoy this straight from the oven you could enjoy it hot/warm or with a cup of coffee.

  2. Practice makes perfect. For sure I see the perfectness of the bun though I can't say the same about eating it. Bread and buns are out of the question for me.

    1. It didn't give any yeast flavor.. If you wish to reduce the yeast you do so..it may take a longer time to rise though

  9. Hi should I mix the yeast directly yo the flour...and if I wan to make these buns little sweet or the sweetness is fine as per the sugar used for the recipe

    ReplyDelete
  10. Add more sugar for sweet buns.. If using instant yeast you can mix it with the flour if using dry or active yeast just proceed as written in the recipe.

    1. I usually add 1/4 tsp salt because I use salted butter. You can use 1/2 tsp salt and use 3 tbsp sugar for 3 cups of flour.

    1. You could have added more flour and kneaded the dough... Water amounts depends on the flour used. If dough gets wet or too sticky add flour and knead if it's too dry add water and oil and knead...

  13. So if I want to use half the recipe I should use 1 1/2 cup flour with 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup milk is it...

    1. Yes but if you feel the dough is very sticky and wet please use more dough and knead.. Till you get soft dough..if the dough seems dry add more water and milk or little oil and knead till you get soft smooth dough..you got to knead really well say for 8 to 10 min atleast till the dough is smooth and soft. ...hope this helps.

    1. hi you can proceed with the same method you used for plain buns like 1 1/2 cup flour ,use 1 tsp yeast and sugar ..water you can use 1/2 cup depending on the flour you may need more or less water .the time required for baking remains the same .you could apply egg wash with little milk added in it ,this will give a nice brown crust brush it with butter as soon as you take it out of the oven , by doing this you will get soft buns.Hope this helps.thanks .God bless

  18. I do have but they are small ones on top...but I donot have an option where I can keep only the top element ON ....I have two wire racks one is little higher than the turntable and one is very close to the top elements...so should I use the taller wire rack..the only thing I am scared of if I bake it for few mins more instead of 13 mins say 18 mins the buns should not become hard...help

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. no what i meant to say was for the last 3 min keep the upper element on if you have that option .So the baking time remains 13-14 min only...ya that was my concern that over heating should not become hard.

    1. was the dough soft while kneading..the dough needs to be very soft ...if while kneading you find the dough is not soft add little more milk or water and knead till the dough is soft yet smooth and not sticky you can refer to my basic pizza dough post where i have explained in stepwise pics how the dough should look like....http://pepperchilliandvanilla.blogspot.in/2015/03/basic-pizza-dough.html

    1. the amount of water n milk actually depends on flour too..sometimes you may need more water/milk ,you will get it with practise ...kneading should be done really well thats the key for soft and fluffy breads/buns
